Using the modern German rail system and busses is a fast, safe and comfortable mode of travel – no matter what the weather conditions. The trains and busses are specially fitted to accommodate skis, toboggans and other winter sports equipment.

107 minutes from Dortmund to Winterberg
The Dortmund-Sauerland-Express RE 57 leaves Dortmund central station to Winterberg via Meschede, Bestwig and Olsberg every two hours on weekdays. Frequency is increased on weekends, with the train leaving once every hour. Willingen can be reached by the Sauerland-Express R17 and the Upland-Bahn RB55 from Hagen and Warburg. Weekday trains leave every two hours. From Friday to Sunday there are hourly connections.

All stations offer bus connections to the ski resorts!

Additional trains
In winter and when the snow conditions are good additional trains are employed for your comfort.

Shuttle service
Most of the hotels and B&Bs in the Wintersports Arena Sauerland pick their guests up directly from the train station. If you don't want to carry ski equipment and suitcases you can use a service provided by the German rail company "Deutsche Bahn AG". The "Haus-zu-Haus-Gepäckservice" takes care of your luggage for you – from door to door. For more information go to a DB counter or use the service-telephone: +49 / 1805-4884

Alternative Routes
The many winter sports enthusiasts sometimes cause a high volume of traffic on the interstate connections. The state road works NRW therefore council the use of alternative routes.

The snowploughs do the best they can, but in the interest of your safety it is best to have winter tires, or at least snow chains in the boot, as road conditions can change quite abruptly.
